Dr. Joseph Sweeney is the Executive Director of the Alliance for Decision Education (formerly the How I Decide Foundation), an educational non-profit dedicated to the belief that better decisions lead to better lives and a better society, and to the mission to empower youth with decision skills to reach their full potential. Joe is working with his team to energize a national education movement; bringing together education and industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, program providers, curriculum developers, teachers, and parents to ensure that Decision Education is a central component of every middle and high school student’s learning experience.
Prior to working with the team and partners at the Alliance, Joe was an independent school leader, software entrepreneur, and award-winning teacher. He continues to teach and mentor doctoral students. Joe is a Fellow of the Systems Wisdom Institute, a member of the American Psychological Association, and a member of the Society of Judgment and Decision Making. He holds a Masters in Mathematics from Villanova University, a Masters in Economics from Temple University, and a Doctorate in Educational and Organizational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
